Syberia is a point-and-click adventure game where the player controls Kate Walker, a lawyer from New York, looking for the heir to an automaton factory. Kate uncovers his life after leaving home and encounters a number of very life-like automatons while on the search for their creator.
I enjoyed the automatons, especially Oscar and the way he would say “Kate Walker”. The train station in Barrockstadt was a gorgeous environment. I was not a fan of the empty landscapes that required traversing to get to important locales. I hated Dan from his first phone call and I am so glad that Kate made the choice she did at the end.
I was fascinated by the life of Hans Voralberg, the heir. Each piece of his life that was uncovered. Each new creation. Which is perhaps why I thought that the ending was rushed. All of a sudden he was there, waiting.
And I have more questions. What had he been doing for the last twenty years? Who sent the mammoth automaton to Kate? Perhaps some of these questions are answered in the sequels?
