Uplink: Hacker Elite Beaten

Game Reviews My Beaten & Completed Games

I beat the Arunmor storyline in Uplink: Hacker Elite in June 2018.

Uplink is strategy simulation game where the player is an Uplink Agent who makes a living by performing computer hacking jobs for major corporations. Tasks involve hacking into rival computer systems, stealing research data, sabotaging other companies, laundering money, erasing evidence, or framing innocent people.

Use the money you earn to upgrade your computer systems, buy new software and tools. As your experience level increases more dangerous and profitable missions become available.

My Review of Uplink: Hacker Elite

I enjoyed this game very much. It was interesting to discover the ways the security systems of each computer system worked and how to circumvented them. There was also a little bit of a thrill to think that I was breaking the law from my home computer.

I do have two complaints. One, once you mastered a technique to by-pass a security system or had the best hardware and software, the missions became routine and repetitive.

My second complaint is that the entire world was populated only by men. In all of the databases, social security, criminal and academic, there was not one woman. I can almost forgive the developers that none of the system administrators were women, even now, almost 20 years later STEM fields are still male dominated, but to have no women in any of the mentioned databases makes no sense.
